The Control of floor heating systems in conjunction with heat Pumps
Heating systems that use heat pumps as their heat source and UFH as the heat emitter should be capable of providing a variable heating power to match the systems heating load.

A Carlisle company is celebrating after joining an elite group of renewable energy businesses. Encompas, suppliers and installers of underfloor heating, heat pumps and solar panels, has just won special accreditation from the Building Research Establishment. It means that whenever the firm installs a ground source heat pump at a private home, the homeowner can automatically claim a £1,200 grant from the Government.
“We’re absolutely delighted. It has taken us nearly 18 months to get this accreditation. And because there are less than 20 other companies in Britain who’ve got this seal of approval we see it as a major achievement in reaching this standard,” says Michael Watts, the managing director of Encompas.
Over the last few year’s the technologies that covert the solar energy into forms of energy to be used for the production of heat and power have been attracting more and more interest.
The internal frictions, leading to a rise in the price of the fossil fuels, and the awareness of the environmental issues that the latter can cause, are giving new credit to a technology that has been known since the Seventies of the last century, but has never been very successful in the plant engineering sector due to a poor technological knowledge, often associated with incorrect installation and high initial costs.
